Sold !

Made our first payment and NVR sold us out! We now have mortgage services through chase. I was worried who we might get, but I have CC's through chase and I've never had a problem.

Moving

What a pain in the A** ! I pretty much was throwing things in boxes as we went along. I took some car loads, while Alex and his Dad moved the big stuff. We got up at 8am and didn't stop until midnight. We went to take a shower and realized we didn't have a curtain liner, so off to Wal-Mart I went at 1230. Of course I picked up all kinds of other things I stumbled upon for the house. So at 2am here we are taking showers in the new house......talk about exhausted! I was happy when moving was over... and that's an understatement!

I was so caught up in moving that I forgot to take photos, so I snapped a few on my phone when I realized I didn't have any pictures.

This fell out of the washer when it was being unloaded and nobody can find where it goes! I've done tons of laundry and it hasn't flooded the place yet, so I guess it will stay out until we figure out where it goes.

Cali is adjusting well to her new kitty lair :)
Her favorite blanket, the pillow she likes to sleep under, lair inside a closet and her kitty bed.
Yeah, she's spoiled by her momma <3

Closing

We finally went to closing on April 30th. Our appointment was at 2:00 and we got started around 2:20.

The closing table where we sign our life away!

At least we had a somewhat nice view of the outdoors

It was pretty simple and painless. It was our first closing ever, so we didn't really know what to expect. We read a bunch of stuff, signed a bunch of papers and around 3:45 we were done. The lawyer said "ok guys that's it you just bought a house." We both sat there like uh that's it, we're done, we are homeowners?! She said we looked confused and sad, but I think we were still in shock that we actually just purchased a house.

When she asked if we got our keys already, I said "wait, what... you don't have our keys?!?!?!" She said our PM Blake would have them. After a call to Blake he said he left them in the office with the SR. Of course we left right from closing and had to come straight to the house and check things out! The SR had the doors unlocked for us already, keys inside and a nice housewarming gift basket. It was pretty surreal, but exciting to say the least!

Abandoned

I know, I know.... I've abandoned all of my blogger friends. I'm now the typical go to closing and disappear blogger :( I promise I will get a post up soon about closing, moving, unpacking, problems, good things, neighbors.... All that good jazz.

I hope everyone's house building adventures are moving along smoothly!

Stay tuned for a post soon :)  promise !

Hi Ho, Hi Ho....

... It's off to closing we go !

I must say that I am elated this day is finally here. I'm feeling all sorts of emotions, but am overall happy. I can't wait for this whole process to be over and finally get the keys to our new house! All of this paperwork and mortgage jargon is beyond me!

Our appt. is at 2:00 and I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly!

Will update when we get back :)

Closing Delay and Landscape

As you've previously read, we are awaiting our CO from the county before we can close. I contacted the production manager on Wednesday for an update on the road. He didn't know anything except they were still working and it could potentially be another 2 weeks. He had no idea if they were 25% done or 75% done.... or anything. A little frustrating.

At this point Alex and I are frustrated with this whole thing. It seems there is no sense of urgency for the builder to get this road done. And nobody knows anything?! One person tells me 2 weeks and the mortgage person tells me maybe this coming Monday or Tuesday. When will the answers get straightened out and someone give us some clear concise information??

I sent an email on Thursday to the settlement processor and explained our frustration. On Friday I received a phone call and email from the SR with some updated information.

So... they are currently working on the road. RH has mandated the company continue working through the weekend and there is the potential for the County to come out on Monday. If all goes smoothly, we are looking at closing on Tuesday at 2:00pm. I'm crossing my fingers everything goes according to plan and we can close.

The sales rep also sent me some photos of the progress and our finished house.

We have made a few trips to the house over the week and noticed they had done some landscaping work. It looks really good and I am happy with the result!
